WEG batteries: history, technology and models

Brazil's WEG evolved from electric motors to solar and storage; its BAT codes must be identified by the datasheet, since VRLA batteries and lithium systems are sized and operated differently.

ChemistryBAT codes in the catalog must be confirmed; WEG offers VRLA solutions and lithium systems in separate lines

Founded in 1961 in Jaraguá do Sul by Werner Ricardo Voigt, Eggon João da Silva and Geraldo Werninghaus, WEG became a global group in electrical equipment and automation.

In solar energy, the company brings together inverters, batteries and integration. Its current portfolio includes lithium storage, while earlier documents and codes also cover VRLA batteries — so the WEG name alone does not tell you the chemistry.

Focus and technology

WEG focuses on batteries for photovoltaic systems, backup and energy storage.

  • Engineering and a service structure in Brazil
  • Integration with solar and automation solutions
  • National investment in packs and BESS systems

What to check before buying

Read the label and manual of the full BAT code before defining charger, ventilation, BMS or paralleling. A VRLA battery cannot take LFP charging parameters, and a lithium module must not operate without approved communication and protections.

Buying WEG equipment in Brazil

WEG's industrial presence in Brazil is an operational advantage, but it does not replace checking the warranty terms, the responsible installer, the availability of replacements and battery–inverter compatibility.

Where is WEG from?

WEG originates in Brazil, with its headquarters in Jaraguá do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The country of the brand, of the factory and of a specific batch may differ.

Is WEG a good brand?

A brand should be judged by the exact model and the project: check the datasheet, efficiency, temperature behaviour, certifications, traceability and the warranty offered by the responsible company in your market.

How do I check the WEG warranty?

Ask for the warranty terms of the exact product code, identify the importer or warranty provider, and confirm product and performance periods, the claim procedure and shipping costs.
